i caught up with x now limited NYS expert ben wescott to see what he has been up to see what he has been up to and his plans for 2011
cv-so hows it going ben you been riding alot?
bw-Yeah man for sure just recently moved to NC and riding 4 to 5 days a week just tryin to get my pro license.
cv-nice nice we all know you unfotintaly moved down there but just give us a recap of your first season of expert here in cny by the looks of it you wernt doing to bad! you right up there with some of the other experts for awhile
bw-Haha first season with the experts let me tell ya was deffinately a wake up call. IT went good my first expert race ever took 1st in open and 1st in lites i struggled a little more at some races but overall it was a really good start and gave me an idea of how fast i need to be and im lookin forward to next season alot
cv-well you deffinatly have the speed you have always had that natrual tallent we were all bummed to see you didnt make it in the 2nd 250b reginal qualifyer at unidilla so we are all wondering as a amature how did it feel to run on the same track your admierers raced on when you were growing up ( the pro track that is )
bw-Thanks. yeah i was deffinately bummed to man and that track is knarly let me just say that . It was a dream come true you know just hittin that sky shot for thefirst time was awesome no other feeling like it the deep ruts rough track big jumps its deffinately awesome and hopefully ill be there this summer with the big boys!
cv-we will will hope to see you there...so do you plan on coming home for any races in new york this year besides that or are you going to focas on your campagin down south mainly?
bw-Yes i plan on coming home for a few weeks and riding at the hometown tracks who made me what i am today for sure and see eveyrone. But for the most part i have a strong training program down here with a routine of the gym and riding almost everyday so i can tell ya i wont be up for long but you will deffinately see me for a couple weeeks and hopefully at DILLA!
cv-haha great so whats the plan for 2011 bike wise still kawis or are you going to mix it up?
bw-Still Green! yeah we got some awesome help through RPM cycles down here and alot of help from other people and believe it or not 250's are gone striclty 450's now and thats what im concentrating on felt like i had the best chance to do something in 450 class and they are much cheaper so kawasakis for atleast 2011 !
cv-i heard the rumor of the 2 stroke with you and joe down there whats it like having a childhood friend and competitor down there to train with?
bw-haha yeah he wants a 2 stroke! and its good good real good for me he goes to the line with me and stuff at big races down here and i raced with him 2 years ago in C class so he knows what i need to do and when im out doing 30 min motos he helps me out alot and its just good to have a friend here too i do so much training these days i sometimes forget what fun is so hes good for that deffinately
