Round #9 of the Northern Motorsports/UpState Motocross series heads to Thornwood MX this Sunday June 19th which is Fathers day! What other better way is there to spend fathers day then at the races?
Two special events are planned for this weekend: First being our annual +50 class record! In 2010 we had 21 +50 riders racing on the gate and we hope to break that record in 2011!(thats over 1050 years of racing experience)! Tell everyone you know over the age of 50 to come and throw down some laps this weekend!
Our second event will be a Parent/Child tag team race! We had one in 2010 and was a huge success and a lot of fun with 14 teams competing! This race will consist of 4 laps total, 2 laps by each rider, faster rider will start on the gate and complete two laps before tagging their family member where then they will complete the last two laps to the finish! This race will have a minimum displacement of 65cc. The race will have a $5 entry fee per team. lets see who the fastest family is in 2011!
Dont forget about our Vintage 70's and Vintage 80's classes that run at every race at Cato MX and Thornwood MX in the 2011 season!
UpState MX memberships will be available at sign up along with our touch screen sign ups!
Gate opens Saturday @ 3pm until 11pm and Sunday @ 7am. There will be a sign up Saturday night around 7pm and on Sunday from 7-9am. Riders meeting @ 8:30am followed by practice @ 8:45am with racing to follow after practice.
Weather report so far shows a high in upper 70's and sunshine for the weekend!
Open practice as always at Thornwood on Thursdays from 4-dusk; $20 per rider, $15 for 50cc's.
